One of the most famous pilgrim centers in India, Sabarimala is situated on the mountains ranges of the Western Ghats at an altitude of 914 m above sea level and is accessible only by foot from Pampa ( 4 Km).. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyapa. Pilgrim season: November to mid January. Mandala pooja Makara vilak are the two main events of the pilgrim season, the first five days every Malayalam month and during Vishu the temple will open. People of castes and creeds are permitted in to temple. However, entry is not allowed to women between 10 and 50 years of age The Guruvayur/Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple is one of the most important and sacred pilgrim centers of Kerala. Located in the Guruvayur town of Thrissur district in Kerala,India it is easily accessible by road and rail. The presiding deity is MahaVishnu, in standing posture with four hands carrying Sankhu(conch), Sudarshana chakram (a serrated disk),lotus and mace. He is worshipped as Balakrishna, the full avatar (Purnaavatara) of Mahavishnu .The idol is made of a rare stone known as Patala Anjana.
